How To Support An Adoptive Family

How To Support An Adoptive Family (Submitted by a Guest Blogger) I am an adoptive parent. My children came into my family when they were ten and thirteen years old. When God first called my husband and me to adopt, we were not thinking of a sibling group. We were not thinking of a teenager. Our biological children were nine and twelve at the time. The idea of adopting a child older than our oldest child was not something we had even considered. Once we started adopting our children, we were strongly advised not to adopt an older child. We

It’s Time for #GivingTuesday

In just a few days (November 30, 2021) the whole world will be called upon to give.  Such a simple act, and yet so very powerful!  Giving changes circumstances, giving changes people and giving changes you.  By giving, you are surrendering ownership of something of value for the greater good of humankind. It’s a sacrifice by you so that someone else can gain or benefit. Proverbs 11:25 – A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. What Happens When You Give? Children, like Kevin, are provided all the necessities to help them have a brighter future.  More

Abortion in the Philippines

Uh oh, this is not a pleasant topic at all, but an important one to address none-the-less.  First let me clear up one thing before you ask – it IS our business because we love and serve orphans.  We have a vested interest in this topic and it greatly affects our work. The Philippine Constitution of 1987 says that, “The State recognizes the sanctity of family life and shall protect and strengthen the family as a basic autonomous social institution. It shall equally protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception.”  Further, Articles 256,

One of Our Heroes

Who’s this guy? His name is George Muller, a humble man of God from Bristol, England, who took care of more than 10,000 orphans throughout his lifetime. He and his wife started out by simply opening their home to a few street kids but word spread about this man who loved orphans. Eventually, they had to rent a larger space to hold all of the children in their care. And not too many years later, there were enough donors to help him build 5 homes for orphaned children. There’s so much more to the story but we feature him here

Babies For Sale

Babies For Sale I have been reading about the “baby trade” in the Philippines and it is scary.  Babies are bought and sold like stocks on the exchange.  It is not a huge surprise but then again, when you start reading how these transactions happen, it is enough to make you sick. It’s a very dark world. Typically, the babies come from poor single women, usually teenagers or women in their early 20’s.  The norm is to agree to sell their baby while still pregnant.  And it’s not usually the mother-to-be who is pulling the strings, it’s a ‘baby broker.’

Making Great Progress!

A Quick Update On Our Newest Orphanage We’ve been able to make great progress over the last month on our newest orphanage in Mexico, Pampanga.  Partnering with New Life Baptist Church, we are adding on to an already existing orphanage they have been operating for the past 3 years.  They currently have 50 children in their orphanage and have officially run out of space (see above photo). Once we’re completed with our construction, they will be able to take in 20 more orphans. More Buildings Means Help For More Orphans Thank you for your giving! We appreciate you very much!

Our Next Orphanage (Update)

Construction Has Begun! We have officially started construction on our second orphanage!  The location is in Mexico, Pampanga which is approximately one hour north of Manila.  We have partnered with New Life Baptist Church in Mexico (click here for more info) which already has an established orphanage, but the need for more room is so great, we are jumping in to help build additional orphanage space.  In fact, there is plenty of room to build as much as we can to help take in many more orphans. There’s Plenty of Land! As you can tell from the above photos, there

Barriers To Adoption (Waiting)

Another understandable barrier to adoption is the long wait.  It seems as though a domestic adoption in the States can take as long as an international adoption in the Philippines.  The wait is long!  Each adoption can vary in terms of how long a family waits to get matched or placed but one thing is for sure – it takes a while! And the biggest reason for the wait is the process. First of all we should say right up front – the process of adoption is rightfully designed to make certain that the couple adopting a child are fit,

How To Afford Adoption

Not surprising is the fact that lack of finances is the #1 deterant to adoption.  Many see the initial estimates and immediately disqualify themselves since they don’t have tens of thousands of dollars sitting in the bank. But the GREAT NEWS is that you don’t have to have it all, or even half of it, in the bank. In this post we will explore many different ways to afford adoption. While it is quite easy, if you already have the money, to just write a check; the struggle you face if you don’t, will be part of your joy once
